Fundamental Social Rights Protection and Covid-19 in the EU: Constraints & Possibilities

The Covid-19 pandemic has had major socio-economic consequences, particularly for critical workers such as healthcare workers, seasonal and platform in their social rights enjoyment. This article analyses how EU law could protect times of Covid-19, with a specific focus on the possibilities limits Charter crisis these certain categories workers. potential legal instruments to vulnerable workers’ is limited both by legislative competences policy field scope application Charter. Furthermore, enshrined are often formulated principles, which means they cannot be invoked directly court, but need elaborated legislation. Nevertheless, further strengthen order through harmonisation standards two ways. First, using bases Treaty. Secondly, implementing European Pillar Social Rights effectively improving at national level, clarifying broadening horizontal direct effect increasing policymakers judiciary raising awareness.
